AEA builds an enormous range of airguns, from compact small bore hunters to some of the most powerful big bores you can buy, and that range is exactly why AEA owners send us more fitment questions than almost anyone else. The models look similar from a distance but differ in shroud design, thread pitch and barrel length, and the right adapter for one is often wrong for the next. My own history with AEA goes back to the .72 Zeus deer hunt in 2021 and the .58 Zeus at the 2022 Pork Slam, so I have a lot of respect for what these rifles can do, and in this Field Notes post I want to lay out the DonnyFL adapters model by model so you can get the right one the first time.

The DonnyFL A91 adapter for the side lever AEA Challenger and AEA HP SS Max in .357, .45 and .50.
Quick Summary
- Big bore side lever Challenger and HP SS Max: A91, M18x1 male threads for .357, .45 and .50.
- HP SS, SS Plus, SS Max and SF up to .30: A77, 1/2 x 20 male.
- Challenger Pro: A99 converts M14x1 to 1/2 x 20, and A100 lets a Ronin or Emperor mount directly to the shroud.
- Challenger bolt action: the Challenger Bolt Action Adapter for .22, .30 and .357.
- Element: separate v1 and v2 adapters, and the 2 inch S45 A103 extender for M18x1 big bore moderators.
AEA HP SS, SS Plus, SS Max and SF up to .30
For the small and mid bore HP family, the AEA HP / AEA SF A77 adapter works on AEA HP models up to .30 caliber, including the HP SS, HP SS Plus, HP SS Max and the AEA SF. It is 6061 aluminum with 1/2 x 20 male threads and a black anodize.
With 1/2 x 20 on the front, the whole small bore DonnyFL lineup is open to you. On a high power .25 or .30 HP, a 1.6 inch moderator like the Sumo or Shogun gives you the volume that kind of power needs, and you should go one size up because you are mounting through an adapter.

The A77 covers AEA HP models and the SF up to .30 caliber.
Big Bore Side Lever Challenger and HP SS Max
The A91 adapter is compatible with the .357, .45 and .50 big bore side lever AEA Challenger as well as the .357, .45 and .50 AEA HP SS Max. It has M18x1 male threads, is made from 6061 T6 aluminum with an anodized finish and includes a knurled thread protector.
M18x1 is the big bore standard across our line, which means the A91 pairs directly with the Ronin or the Emperor v3 using their M18x1 rear caps. On a .45 or .50, the Emperor is the moderator I would start with, because it has the volume those calibers demand, and we walked through the Ronin side of big bore setup in our Ronin .357 Field Notes.
AEA Challenger Pro
M14x1 to 1/2 x 20 Adapter
The Challenger Pro Adapter converts the factory barrel threads from M14x1 to 1/2 x 20, which opens up a wider range of moderators, and it is designed to perfectly center the barrel within the shroud for improved precision and sound suppression. It is CNC machined from 6061 T6 aluminum and includes a knurled thread protector.
Direct Ronin or Emperor Mount
If you would rather mount a big moderator straight to the shroud, the Challenger Pro Adapter M14x1 lets you attach your Ronin or Emperor directly to the shroud without additional adapters or modifications. It has a centering recess for precise barrel alignment within the shroud and works with all Challenger Pro barrel lengths and calibers.

The A99 centers the Challenger Pro barrel in the shroud and converts M14x1 to 1/2 x 20.

AEA Challenger Bolt Action
The AEA Challenger Bolt Action Adapter fits .22, .30 and .357 caliber bolt action Challenger rifles. It is CNC machined 6061 T6 aluminum in black anodize and comes with a knurled thread protector. If your Challenger is the side lever version, you need a different adapter, which in big bore calibers is the A91 above, and on the .30 it is worth measuring the outer diameter of the threaded part of the front before ordering.

AEA Element v1 and v2
The Element is a case where the version matters. The Element v1 adapter is for the Element without the power wheel, and the Element v2 adapter is for the Element with the power wheel. Both are 6061 T6 aluminum, black anodized, include a knurled thread protector and attach simply to the factory carbon fiber shroud, giving you 1/2 x 20 for a moderator.
AEA S45 and Terminator
For the S45, the A103 extender is 2 inches long and clears the factory air tube, allowing you to mount a Great Kami or Emperor with M18x1 threads. For the AEA Terminator, the Terminator M18x1 Big Bore Adapter installs once the factory front cap is off, and you may need to heat the front cap to loosen the factory epoxy before unscrewing it from the gun.
AEA Fitment Checklist

Final Thoughts
AEA owners have some of the most capable airguns on the market, and the right DonnyFL adapter is what lets those rifles wear a moderator that matches their power. Identify your exact model, pick the adapter that fits it, and pair it with a moderator sized for the caliber, and you will have a quieter, more pleasant rifle without giving up any precision.
