Frequently asked questions
What model of DonnyFL air rifle suppressor do I need for my airgun?
DonnyFL makes the largest selection of airgun moderators in our sport. The general rule of thumb is the larger the amount of air volume in an airgun suppressor, the better the sound suppression. With that said, some airguns have a different valve tone and hammer slap that change as you put on other DonnyFL Suppressors. But again, the more power your air rifle has, the larger DonnyFL airgun suppressor you will want to choose.
How often should I clean my DonnyFL Airgun Suppressor?
The answer to this question depends on what kind of projectile you are using and how often you shoot. But the short answer is, yes, you should disassemble your DonnyFL Airgun Suppressor every few thousand shots and clean it in a sonic cleaner or with a cleaning solution like Ballistol. Please do not use harsh solvents, as it will harm the aluminum and the anodization and internals of the airgun suppressor.
Will adding a DonnyFL Air Rifle Moderator change my accuracy or point of impact from my zero?
This is a nuanced question to answer, but the broader answer is that putting any muzzle device onto an air rifle will change the harmonic signature of that platform.
When you have an airgun that is tuned for precision, all of your shots will go roughly into a single ragged hole. This means your gun is tuned to a good harmonic node where your barrel muzzle is in the same orientation every shot.
Those vibrations determinee if you have found a good harmonic node with the combination of adding a airgun moderator, the speed or your projectile, and other factors like how you hold your rifle.
So what are barrel harmonics? Imagine a long wind chime and wrapping a piece of tape at the end. Adding something that touches a long cylindrical object will change how that object vibrates, and those vibration in barrels is called harmonics.
The sensitivity of your barrel is to adding or removing a muzzle device like an airgun suppressor depends on a lot of factors, including how thick your barrel is and if it is in a supported or unsupported shroud. If your point of impact does change after adding a DonnyFL Air Rifle Moderator, you can just make a few clip adjustments on your scope.
If it changed your tune slightly and your groups get slightly worse, you can just adjust your speed a touch to find another good harmonic node. Another technique is to use a DonnyFL Yokozuna or Ryu to add or remove baffles to mechanically harmonically tune your airgun.
Are airgun moderators and suppressors legal?
Airguns are not considered firearms in many jurisdictions all over the world, but knowing the laws that govern where you are using your airgun is your responsibility. DonnyFL Airgun suppressors are made with a thread pitch and internals that are made specifically for airguns and are for airgun use only.
