FX owners tend to be particular people, and I say that as one of them. We like our rifles to look a certain way, we care about how the gun balances, and we notice when an accessory does not quite match the lines of the rifle. The DonnyFL FX Airguns Specific moderator was designed with that owner in mind, as a custom sized moderator built specifically for FX airguns, and in this Field Notes post I want to explain where it sits in our lineup, how it compares to the Tanto and the Sumo, and which adapter you need for the more common FX platforms.

The DonnyFL FX Airguns Specific moderator, 1.36 x 5 inches and around 4.7 oz.
Quick Summary
- The moderator: DonnyFL FX Airguns Specific, 1.36 x 5 inches, around 4.7 oz, custom sized for FX airguns.
- Design intent: the same length as the Tanto with a slightly larger diameter, for performance comparable to the FX factory suppressor in a DonnyFL build.
- Endcaps: spare FX/DonnyFL Endcaps are available.
- Adapters: FX Crown, FX Impact/Wildcat and Wildcat/Royale A12.
- Need more quiet? Step up to the Sumo or Shogun on high power .25 and .30 FX rifles.
What Makes the FX Specific Different
The FX Specific measures 1.36 inches in diameter and 5 inches long and weighs around 4.7 ounces. It is the same length as our Tanto but with a slightly larger diameter, and that extra diameter is where the additional internal volume comes from, which gives it performance comparable to the FX factory suppressor while being built the DonnyFL way.
It is precision CNC machined by professional machinists, built with the same attention to finish as the rest of our line, and it ships in the protective red tube for transport and storage. Spare FX/DonnyFL Endcaps are available if you need to change or replace the rear cap.

The FX Specific is the same length as the Tanto with a slightly larger 1.36 inch diameter.
Where It Sits in the Lineup
FX Specific versus the Tanto
Because they share the same 5 inch length, the comparison with the Tanto comes down to diameter. The Tanto is 1.22 inches and the FX Specific is 1.36 inches, so the FX Specific has more room inside for the same overall length, and it suits FX rifles where a slightly fuller profile matches the shroud better.
FX Specific versus the Sumo
The Sumo is 1.6 x 6.25 inches and weighs about 5.6 ounces, so it has considerably more volume and will be quieter on a high power rifle. If you shoot a .25 or .30 FX at higher power levels and suppression is the top priority, the Sumo is the better choice, and we went through that setup in our Sumo on the FX Impact M4 Field Notes. If you want a compact moderator that stays in proportion with a sporter or bullpup FX, the FX Specific is the more balanced choice.
Adapters for Common FX Platforms
FX Crown
The FX Crown A22 adapter is CNC machined from 6061 T6 aluminum in a matte black anodize and includes a knurled thread protector, so you can run the Crown bare and keep the threads covered when the moderator is off.

FX Impact and newer Wildcats
The FX Impact/Wildcat threads onto the factory M20x1 shroud and gives you 1/2 x 20, and it is the correct adapter for newer Wildcats as well as the Impact family.
Older Wildcats, Royale, Boss and Whisper
The A12 adapter is for Wildcat shrouds that extend past the air tube and have female threads once you remove the front shroud cap. It is also compatible with the FX Royale 400 and 500, the Boss and the Whisper, and it is male to male, M20x1 into the shroud and 1/2 x 20 UNF on the other end. If you have a newer Wildcat, use the A2 instead.
For the M20x1 owners who would rather not use an adapter at all, remember that several DonnyFL moderators offer an FX M20x1 endcap, including the Tanto and KOI, so check the endcap options before you order.
Setup Tips for FX Owners
FX Specific Checklist
Confirm which Wildcat you have before choosing between the A2 and A12.
Thread the adapter onto the shroud squarely and snug it by hand.
Go one size up on any moderator that mounts to a shroud.
Re-check zero after installing, then shoot a few groups to confirm precision.
If you are not sure which FX generation you have, a quick photo of the front of the shroud with the cap removed is usually all it takes to sort it out.

Final Thoughts
The FX Specific is the moderator for FX owners who want a compact, properly proportioned upgrade that looks like it belongs on the rifle. Match it with the right adapter for your platform, and if your rifle needs more suppression than a 5 inch moderator can give, the Sumo is waiting one step up the lineup.
